Single Mom Strong's mission is to empower single mothers and their children through enrichment, encouragement and educational programs. It takes a village to raise a child, and for single mothers, we are that village.

In Sacramento County, 1 in 4 children under 18 live in single-parent households. Studies show that these families are more likely to face depression, chronic stress, substance abuse, and poor overall health. 

But it doesnā€™t have to be this way.

At Single Mom Strong, we believe every mom deserves a community to walk alongside her. Thatā€™s why weā€™ve created a powerful, local blueprint for change that wraps single mothers and their children in resources, love, and connection.

What We Do

Foster Connection: We know community is everything. Through Momā€™s Night Out, Mother & Child Events, Menā€™s Mentoring for children of single moms, and more, we enrich the lives of single moms and their children by fostering healthy, deep, and lasting relationships.

Increase Economic Stability: Our Career Advancement programs offer practical tools, including Career Coaching, access to professional clothing in our Career Clothing Closet (where single moms shop for free!) and Career Exploration events, which provide pathways to careers with high earning potential. 

High-Quality, Affordable Childcare: EmpowerME Preschool & Childcare programs make quality early childhood education accessible to all young children by making preschool affordable, even on a single-income budget.  The same level of quality and affordability is extended to serve school-age children on days when schools are closed. The values-based curriculum, home-like environment, and culturally responsive programming at EmpowerME encourage self-expression and emphasize social-emotional development.

EmpowerME Preschool & Childcare

Childcare is the #1 barrier keeping single moms from pursuing education or career goals. Our EmpowerME programs offer affordable, trauma-informed care for children 6 months through seventh grade, giving moms the peace of mind needed to keep building their futures.

šŸ“š A $300 donation fills a classroom with books for a whole year.

šŸŒž A $140 donation sends a child to summer camp for a week of fun, learning, and friendship.

šŸŽ A $4,000 donation pays the first month of a teacherā€™s salary, allowing us to increase our capacity and serve more children.

Single Mom Strong Events

Single moms rarely get time for themselves, especially time that feels joyful, safe, and empowering. Our community events offer that, and so much more.

šŸ’ A $200 donation provides a Mother & Child event, which allows mother and child to spend quality time and create joyful memories, while getting to know other local single moms and their kids.

šŸŽ‰ A $200 donation also funds a Momā€™s Night Out event allowing moms to get to know other local single moms and ā€œrefill their cupsā€, while their kids are well-cared for at one of our licensed childcare centers.

ā¤ļø A $5,500 donation covers the cost of our Love Your Life Valentineā€™s Galaā€”our most powerful event of the year, where over 70 moms walk the red carpet, enjoy dinner, and feel seen, celebrated, and loved on Valentineā€™s Day.

Menā€™s Mentoring & Community Building

So many children of single moms long for consistent, caring male role models. Our Menā€™s Mentoring program offers just thatā€”positive, present men who show up to play, talk, and listen.
