Lindsay - Giving a little goes a LONG way!
$1,144 Raised
Runnin' for Rhett (R4R) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization established December 7, 2007, in memory of Rhett Seevers. Rhett passed away in March of 2004, at the age of seven, from complications of Cerebral Palsy.
Since our beginning in 2010, we have raised and spent over $1,300,000 in the program, allowing more than 46,000 students in Greater Sacramento Area schools to participate in a six-week after school physical and nutritional training. Each training session culminates with a 5K "timed" race.
Our mission is to get children to move into life and battle childhood obesity through our Youth Fitness Program (YFP). Our YFP is open to all schools in the Sacramento metro region with an emphasis on at-risk youth attending Title I (low income) schools.
The YFP educates children and their families about physical fitness and nutrition in Sacramento, Placer, El Dorado, and Yolo counties. An additional focus is placed on working with children with physical disabilities and increasing their ability to be physically active.
Our mission is to inspire people to Move Into Life.
Our vision is nurturing healthy communities through fitness and nutrition.
1,000 pairs of shoes for our Youth Fitness Program students. $35 will purchase one pair of quality running shoes.
R4R Youth Fitness Program funding. $42 will put one child through our Youth Fitness Program.
$10,000 for QR code technology to track miles run throughout the five-week program.
We need up to 70 volunteers each spring and fall season to help our coaches put on the Youth Fitness Program at each respective school.
Our current board is 12 members strong. We would like to have a robust board of 14-16 members.
At the Runnin' for Rhett Non-Profit, we believe diversity, equity, and inclusion are essential to our mission and core values. We are committed to building and fostering an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful culture of all individuals, regardless of their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, ability, or other characteristics.
We are dedicated to creating a workplace and community where everyone feels valued, supported, and able to participate fully and contribute. To this end, we are committed to continuous learning and improvement and taking proactive and measurable steps to advance DEI in all aspects of our work.
We recognize that diversity, equity, and inclusion are a journey and that we have much work to do to achieve true equity and inclusion. We are committed to listening to and learning from all members of our community and collaborating with our partners to create meaningful and lasting change. Together, we can create a more inclusive and equitable world.
